but not when Life is unfoldin'
passing it's way
into yesterday

a house
quiet as a mouse
with only the sound of one last breath
the silence of waiting for Death

when the only thing
you hear
is an angel sing
when the silence is fear
it draws you near
to someone dear
and in silence you shed a tear
for the sound of silence is clear

when the look
in the eye
is a book
each page ask "why?"
"why?' am i waitin' to die
has each word been a lie?

we try to get by
in the silence golden
each still holdin'
on
to what is gone
to sing that last song
before it's too late

until you're just holden
on
to what's already gone
