i guess
we all justify
what else
can answer the "why'
of what we do

my dad
just passed on
sad
but he's gone

my mom passed too
i remember
and it makes me blue
we all have our december
it's true

got 2 brothers
same dad
same mother
all we ever had
guess i'm glad

but since their death
we've all had a ...
a "why"?
we all try ta' justify
what we have done
or what we do
am i a better son
or are you?
with each breath
we can wonder
what was true ?

and we can wander
...

but the Truth be
neither you nor me
nor them
was all that good
nor all that bad
we did what we could
with what we had

and we just try
and we justify

and we lie
to ourselves
about the elses
and we live
'till we die
and we give
it a try

you & me & them
all a' them

we live & we die
we lie
we all justify
the "why'
of what we did
or what we hid

what else can we do?
except
accept
what we do?

we all try.
we all lie.
we all justify.
then, we ALL die.

This is outstanding, Steve and so very true. We all stand like Cervantes in front of the mirror that shatters the image we would like to see as ourself. But we try and we justify and we lie all to get by.
Take care,
Sherry
