oh,
all of the things
are gone
taken by family or friends
sold in a garage sale
given away
or just thrown away
but somehow the memories
stay
the leaky roofs been repaired
the shifting brick wall has been righted
all the cracks have been fixed
fresh paint ouside & in
the 40 year old carpet has been discarded
the original wood floors are still there
even the old refrigrator has disappeared
it was built in 1946
3 years before i was born
it was always Home
even after i was grown
i still came Home
to visit
or to stay when things in my Life were in change
Home was a place to RE-arrange
does seem strange
the For Sale sign is in the yard
that part was hard
Today it's just a house
but It will Always be Home
someday soon
a new family will move into their new home
yes, it's empty now
but somehow
that old house
will always be Home
