(i know this is not "poetry", but "poetry" is where i write, so please excuse me.)

once i dreamed ...

when i was 5 years old i dreamed of being 6.

when i was 6 years old i dreamed of
being Elvis. my life had changed. i found rock-n-roll.

when i was 7 years old i dreamed of
Jane Twigg. i became i hippie, she becmae a missionaries wife. how strange.

from 8 thru 12 i dreamed of being every sports hero the 50's & 60's had. too bad, how sad ... those dreams i had.

at 13 i was in-between. no place to go & no time to get there. where ever "there" was.

at 14 & 15 i couldn't wait to be 16, so i could drive & date & date & date.
too late i discovered i was afraid to date.

at 16 i met my first former wife. comfortable. uncomfortable. stable. unstable. unable to change. still so strange.

17 Mr. Clean. know what i mean. lean & mean. a mr. American machine.

18, out on my own. out into the unknown. smoke & toke, drink & sink... never blink... think, think, think ...without a thought.

19-22, what do i do? married a child. still mr. Wild. a wild child tamed. insane.

23-30, down & dirty. wife & 3 kids. blowin my lid. lit up & blown up in myself. top shelf, bottom dollar. God could i holler.

31, all comes undone. start again & the end. begin agin.

32 what did i do? i ain't got a clue.

33 'till 50. real nifty. lost in space. a contender in the $$$$ race. time i wish i could retrace.
can i have a mulligan? a "do again"?

once i had a dream...

51. all's undone. start over. a not so fresh start. a broken heart. a very, very sad part.

52 'till now ... somehow i made it. shit. is this it? bit by bit i understand ...

once i had a dream ...

i ran full steam! over the falls. down the river.

once i had a dream ...

i dreamed of mountains and distant rivers. far away places & new faces.
Montana ... i don't know why ... the "Big Sky"
a place in the country.

a place to go. a place to be. a place for Me.

faraway. anywhere but where i was. where i AM. damn.

i can run, but i can't hide from me. wherever i am, there i be.

writing this poetry.
sad as it may be...

i once had a dream.

i never dreamed ...

i would be married twice.
i would love so much.
i would have 6 (SIX) children, who love me so much.
i would have 7 (SEVEN) grandchildren
so precious to me.

i never dreamed...
here is where i want to Be.

i have a dream ...

i walk by the bay. i see the sea.

i smile.
i laugh.
i sing.
i dance.
i like.
i love.
i live.

to dream dreams are only schemes. moments our minds trick us into our own reality.

once i dreamed...

and still i do ...

and when i dream,
i dream of you.
