(this poem is about the last few days of my mom's life and the "blankness" that came into her eys, and the "blankness" when she did die. it's taken me awhile to be able to write this. my hope is that by sharing, others in the same situation will understand. never written a "memoir" before. anyway, writing is how i "feel".-steve)
i know those eyes
the ones that have gone away
there are no "why's"
there is nothing to say
only Life's Yesterday
blank stares
shining bright
when Life has lost it's strife
when Life has lost It's Light
eyes
that look into no where
eyes that just stare
and see
all the old Memory
of Life
of Death
fearing their last Breath
fearing the strife
that comes with the End of Their Life
wanting to Go
afraid to Let Go
because they don't know
what only The Soul can Know
Death
no more Breath
what is The Depth
of those eyes
no more Trues
no more Lies
no more Tries
just Rest
and Peace
those eyes have done their Best
now it's Time for Release
eyes that can haunt you
eyes that will taunt you
with fears
and tears
and old Lost Dears
eyes that Saw all those years
eyes
Blank
Frank
they've lost their Glow
eyes that know
Death is Near
eyes that Know
eyes that show
Death is Near
but not a tear
for their Life has been Dear
only The Eyes
the "Why's"
"The inner Cry's"
The Eyes
that say "Goodbyes"
i know those eyes
i know the "why's"
those eyes that just stare
lookin' out there
into The Unknown
those eyes that have been shown
what only The Soul can See
those eyes that used to Be
i know those eyes
i know the "why's"
i know the tears
i know the fears
i know the years
they laughed & cried
i know the moment
when those eyes died
and
I Cried
(for Gwynn- my Dear Detroit Friend-

Beautiful and heartfelt poetry excellent tribute Steve.
Sepsis knocked her down and out. Faith, hope, and gave her the strength to get back on her feet. I am a Runner She fought the river of death They said she'd never run again
She proved them wrong...
thanks,
donna.
