this poem is for/about my dad. mom died a few months back. he's lost. so i wrote this poem about how i see him
there's a silence
in this house
a silence
quite as a mouse
a silence
that echoes thru his heart
a violence
that touches his soul
a silence
that is his whole
an old man
who can bairly stand
so he sits
and remembers
all those years
a silence in his tears
he eats
he sleeps
in the silence he weeps
he keeps
a memory alive
in his heart
in his mind
he still can find
the one he loves
she is
all he thinks of
he waits to die
he wonders why
why did she die first
that's the worst
she's gone
now he's alone
sitting
staring
each momemnt wearing
on his heart
burning in his mind
why would life
be so unkind
she's gone
why does he go on
she was his life
for 64 years
she was his wife
now
there's only silent tears
only silent fears
memories of yesterdays
fears of living each todays
not knowing
not showing
the silence
as life slips by it' own ways
memories that haunt
laughter that taunt
old ears
laughter lost to the years
he sits alone
now she's gone
but he's still here
living in his silent fear
crying his silent tear
Oh how sad for your father
I guess this pain is just a part of living
Hopefully the fear of loosing someone to death
will not make a perrson hesitate to live and love fully
my mom is going through this same pain and my dad dies 14 years ago ..
