what ever happened
to me
why couldn't i see
what ever i be
was who i am
god-damn

i ran
when i shoulda' stay'd
be the man
and played
the games
they're all the sames
excuses are lames

what ever happened to me
why couldn't i see

where did i go
i don't know
i was just gone
agin'
afraid to begin

singin' a song
'bout what's gone wrong

wonderin' why
i didn't try
just livin' a lie

so i'd cry
in my beer
i'd shed a tear
from my fear

who i was
'cause
of who i be
can you see

i be a drunk
i be a drinker
a skunk
a drunk

actin' like i knew
but it twern't true
what the hell could i do

so it passed me by
and i wondered why
i couldn't cry
only sigh
and say good-bye

whatever happened to me
why couldn't i ever see
who the hell am i
and when
did life pass me bye

wadn't it ever
a nice try
stephen
was your life a lie

stephen
was it just
a good-bye
