saturday morning.
started today
like most every other day.
rolled outta' bed.
my prayer i said.
thanked God i wasn't dead.
took time to get my meditations read.
little OJ
to start my day.
popped some meds
to keep the evil spirits away.
threw the covers up over the bed.
started the coffee to brew.
always need a cup or two.
lit my first cigarette.
tuned in the weather
to see what i'd get.
not too sunny, that's a sure bet.
hop in the shower
to wash away the sleep.
no need to shave.
think the beard i'll keep.
all done in less than an hour.
open the blinds.
open the door.
lookin' outside
makes me feel less lonely than before.
sit down in my chair.
breath the morning air.
drink a cup cup of coffee
maybe two.
light another cigarette.
now whata' i do?
You paint such a vivid picture with your words. Hard reality, then soft yearning. Like the contrast.
