“...One of the most obvious facts about grownups to a child is that they have forgotten what it is like to be a child...”

Picture: Photo memoir of Fishing with My Father, Lihu’e Hawai’i
Today...He’s almost 80 years young face
My Father
Home from the 44 years of daily rat race
One company, one man of grace
He toiled and sweat for a family of five
Not small a clan
For this good man
He did do something special
He loved to fish
My Father
Over golden sand and blue dreams
Weekend after weekend he sought
Somewhere out there was a school of them...to be caught
He longed to catch a big one with only care could
Like an old fisherman should
Years of patience paid off
one dawn...
For a young son in tow
Slept in the garden of sand
Wakened by the bell
And a fishing rod so bent
it would not break
Perhaps the biggest in this State!
The old man so stern
His hands bloodied but he yearned
My Father
Eight hours later he landed
the biggest fish to stay
From a boiling blue and drenched rays
Nothing mattered more
Than a final score
A deed He did for me
and eternity
