IN SILENCE OF ONES INNER SELF

 Rhythm Inside

A quiet old man was walking on a path he had chosen, knowing
that he would be surrounded by a natural display of living
wonders. Their motion and beauty were a friend to him and
made him feel as though he was not alone. The path he had
taken was as he knew it to be. And he celebrated within himself
from the living joys that abounded before him.

As he walked, he anticipated the spontaneous surprises the
living forest willingly offered into his view. He beamed with a
subdued excitement, only a man who had tempered his virtues,
from the fires that once burned inside his heart, could do.

When the beautiful day unfolded the old man began to tire, so he
decided to rest for a while along the path. Just ahead was a tree
that offered shade from the emanating reach of the sun's glow.
As he approached the darkened outline of the tree's sanctuary,
he felt relieved and rested his back against the body of it's great
stature. In a moment's time the old man was fast asleep.

As he was content when awake, so then he was content in his
dreams. His mind traveled to a distant past, and it was
enchanted with the fullness of life that lived in parallel with the
treasures he witnessed on the path of his choice, the place which
surrounded his sanctum of slumber.

And within his sphere of utopia, there was a darkness that came over the land and reached out to the garden of life that he took comfort in, and
that he adored in his dreamscape. Within itís darkness lived a
terrible storm, and it unleashed its fury onto the tranquil
domain of his unconscious illusion.

The relentless storm ravished all that he had surrendered his emotions of love for. And as it rushed toward the very spot that he occupied, he
became afraid, then suddenly woke, drenched in his fears.

At once, it was quiet, and the wind was moving in a soft motion,
seemingly content in the aftermath of the turbulent siege. And
its coolness comforted him and caressed his skin.

As he sat quietly he stared, like one who hides in the darkness from his
searchers. He began to realize that the storm was in his dream.
And then felt safe as if he was being held firmly to the bosom of
a woman that surrendered herself like the oceans that
surrender their peacefully curving waves onto the naked sands
of the earth's beckoning shores
.
He gathered his thoughts and started to think of his life and the
tempest he had overcome by understanding his own destiny.
And in the acceptance of his past storms, his vision became
enhanced. And then he focused on the harmony that surrounded
him, and realized itís living rhythm was life's movement, and
the song of life's eternal essence.

He then knew itís music was being orchestrated within the
deepest chambers of his soul.

You are so blessed to be held by all the beauty which surrounds you.
I also can feel your "Rhythm inside" through your descriptive poetic visuals & it is lovely...emotional storms do need to be embraced to a nurturing calm of serenity

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
