I would be, rather than to be
If then to be a desert, I would be, and welcome the naked feet of insect and snake, beast and man, to cast their impressions into the grains of my burning sands.
Rather than to be a beautiful ocean full of life's mysteries and wonders, but whose liquid was never to be wrapped around the shape of man or child,
and whose waves were only to crash upon empty beaches.
