Inner growth

 The Goblet

Once I found myself looking at a beautiful crystal goblet. I then raised it up while clutching its slender stem, like one who lifts up a fragile flower. I elevated it to admire its perfection, and could see my face mingling with its luster.

As I poured the nectar of fruit into the goblet's empty space, I imagined the goblet to be my body, and the nectar to be the nourishment of my living experience and my insatiable love for all living things.

My facial impression began to disappear and seemed to become the goblet as the goblet became half full, or was it half empty? But I knew that I was neither.

Like the sun which cannot contain its light and bursts outward into the universe, I filled the goblet's void until it overflowed.

ahh the measured life beyond measure... your prose poetic form suits the content well... as, content, the reader swells.

Very perspective. Looking at oneself in the looking glass of a half filled (or half empty) goblet of knowledge? Emotion? Fulfillment? Who knows? Only the satisfaction of downing the nectar is what matters.

The glass that is half full and half empty never sounded like a fully satisfying metaphor to me. Now that I've read this, I know why! There is always room for inner growth. Thank you.

As with our lives, we should fill them until they are over-flowing with happiness and good will.
