He promised to meet her,
though, only her shadow cast,
no words on the horizon,
nor, ‘I love you’in the sand,
her heart sank to a bottomless pit,
washed out to sea, lost evermore
I find it very easy to relate to the feelings, emotions, and meaning expressed within your verses here, Christine; very compelling. Love and best wishes to you,
outstanding writing Christine
Love the way you write, I've been away for a while, hope to read more of you and the other great poets at the Den, I am back at my own dwelling for a few more weeks before I hit the road again, I'll be searching for more of your lovely words
Love & peace
OH, I love this. She's muddling through with a broken heart, Oh I can identify. This means you are one I can learn how to write from, just by reading. It's like listening in music, it just sinks in through the heart.
I'll keep reading your poetry.
Promises are easy to break
But silence - now that's hard to take.
Maybe a Life Guard on his stand
Will swim out and grab your hand
And breathe life into you again.

Gee if this writing was not so sad because it has beauty too. I have had the reverse done to me, I got to a port and was left wanting. This was a great writing!
The sea holds so much mysteries within its depths...fathomless, unknown. What a deeply meaningful offering Chrissie. I missed reading your beautiful works.
This one reminds me of one of the mountain tops in the Hong kong islands (actually is situated amongst the Kowloon mountains) in which the top is a rock washed by weather to the shape of a woman standing there, looking out to the sea. It was said that she had been waiting and waiting for her husband to come home from the sea, and waited there for so long that she had become the rock on the mountain top.
She smiles at him, and he chases her with wild abandon.
He says he loves her, and she moves to a distant land to be with him.
And the "I love you" in the sand? Don't forget that the tide ebbs and flows twice in twenty-four hours, washing away all evidence of such romantic dawdlings. Sigh.
My dear Christine, you have romanticized a cruel lesson in life: Actions speak louder than words.
Perhaps it taints the sweet and kind heart, but a little time spent flipping the pages on an intriguing book by Eric Berne, M.D. titled "Games People Play/The Psychology of Human Relationships" will make anyone a lot less likely to be Lost at Sea.
Even so, your lyrics are sad and beautiful and felt by the reader,
for who among us hasn't been duped in love and desire?
I'm sorry you've experienced the pain that allows you to share "Lost at Sea" with us. I'd like to believe that it was your soulful heart and writer's imagination that created such a poignant muse.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
