Waltz in the Rain

Loud and clear, his handle she grasped,
took shelter beneath his wings,
eyes dry, from skies that cried,
from wind, protection he brings

She held on tight, that’s a big 10-4,
decoding pitter-patter from her heart,
coinciding in rhythm, with tumbling rain,
that rebounded and kissed, lips of tart

Whistling leaves, they swung in waltz,
my, how bold he looked in black,
eat your heart out Mary Poppins,
for she took him home, to her shack

Such a light and delightful offering, Christine. It makes me glad that, according to many people, I never grew up. Love and best wishes to you,

Wow! I love this one, Chrissie. It's like seeing the wonderful sides of the umbrella, yet it still depends on the reader how he connects to the verses. As for me, i just realized that my man is like an umbrella, and while it is difficult most of the time, i still find it worthwhile to 'waltz in the rain' with him. Meaningful poem, my dear friend. Miss you too.

Love and hugs,
Sheri

now this is taking the bull by the horn
or the umbrella is not symbolic?
I wink that it is...
ride'em hard all the way home :)
and yet delicate too with the mystery

Christine, I agree with John Flanagan on the boldness of your first line. And ask, deliberate? Mary Poppins never held any allure for me. Your poem on the other hand is a clever entertaining piece of work. May love and peace be with you my dear friend. Jon Michael

Gotta love it. And I did. Reading between the lines was fun, but just reading the poem as is is satisfying. Very.

Mary Poppins with all her skills and magical powers definitely didn't have it so good, Christine, this one has a real outcome, a fine resolve right through from that very bold (deliberate?) opening line all the way to the shack.
Love this.

Such a perfect metaphorical write Chrissie, the use of an umbrella as a symbo for someone you love and the shelter from the rain...are wonderful and yes I could feel the coming to gether of the two. Very nicely done and the shelter of that shack would be filled with love and serenity.

Tenderness in this lovely poem, my dear. Something about the rain, that soothes the mind, and stimulates the libido. I am so glad that you ended it with a spark of life...Nicely done.

Peace, love and light,
Amber

This is clever ~ I really love listening to the rain, and I hear it in the background of your clever poem. And then as you end it, I love the way you gather everything back up into the wind.
Blessings,
Christine
