Selfless

Selfless

Veins ran dry… life drained out of them,
scavengers’ eager to suck the last drop,
a wild rose bled red through its stem,
petals fell to the ground, as she inhaled

The rose is giving, nurturing, the way she can. A metaphor that I can interpret in many different ways in my own life. :)

Intense in its sheer passion. I wondered if the scavengers were expelled from the veins with the inhaled breath or if the wild rose and the petals falling to the ground represented the death of what once was. As usual your writing is beautiful and filled with emotions, that pull at the heart and make the soul ache to comfort the person in so much pain...
