The recent tragedy of the ship "Princess of the Stars" caused the loss of many lives, but recent investigations reveal the most absurd
reasons why it sailed right into a storm. The "eye" of the storm never blinks, it just strikes.
PRINCESS

The loss of lives a tragedy,
Investigate the mystery.
Majestic Princess of the Stars,
Turned upside down, floats from afar.
Dead bodies food for sharks became,
The sea bore witness to the shame.
Families tossed in waves of grief,
No wake, no burial, no relief.
One day before, it was declared,
To warn that ships must be prepared-
There is a storm, said the weatherman,
We saw its form at CNN.
But like a gambler, they did think.
Let us set sail, the "eye" might blink.
Play with the storm a hide-and-seek,
Alas, the Princess could not speak.
So it is a sad disaster,
The ship fell over, Death its master.
For lack of better things to say,
Sigh they: "The storm got in the way."
Wow! The whole poem kept building in intensity and forboding until you zapped me with that closing line.."sigh they, 'the storm got in the way'. I know that God ultimately holds the reigns of every storm, and so your last line, to me, sums up nicely, man's scorn for His Creator. What an original and creative voice you have, Cynthia ! Praise God!

Too bad! Sometimes humans are very egoistic. They receive the warnings but they still want to go out to sea.
I remember watching a movie called "A Perfect Storm", in which a greedy captain wanted to catch more lobsters instead of turning back, and that had cost him dearly - his own life, the lives of his crew members, and the life of the ship itself - for they ran into two huge hurricanes.
A sad but beautiful write of words that go to our hearts Cynthia. If they had only listened to the weather and not think they could fool with Mother Nature. Thank you for sharing.
