today,
as you sink
into your cushy chair
with your remote control
and ponder your power
to mold people
and change
the minds
of those
who,
let’s face it,
don’t know enough
to know what they need,
but, let’s fact it,
you believe
you do,

remember me,
your failed experiment,
exhibit number one,
distasteful reminder
and reality check,
anomaly
which disproves
your fine theory,
superiority,
ability
to just
let go,
live
without
this love.

today,
as you watch
the moves in the game
and think about September,
wistful, wild, wonderful,
and unwieldy,
for once
will you
let it go,
surrender
in strength,
let it be
okay
that,
let’s face it,
you didn’t know enough
to know what I needed?

I know,
I know it goes
against the grain
of who you are and
you bristle to think that
there should be a reckoning,
but, love – and, yes,
you are all I know
of love – breathe,
breathe softly,
feel the grace
of all in all,
all that was
and is and
one day
will be.

This is heart wrenching, Dawn. Words layed out so beautifully. If this is a rant, it is the most eloquent one I've ever read.

A deep sadness but knowing that all
things change and hopefully for the
better. Excellent verse, unique!

Dawn, though "For One" is emotionally disturbing, it probes into the source of your anguish with a powerful style and flair and with a determined sense of being ...

The love shown for another is sometimes unknown and unappreciative by another. Good rant and powerful style.

This throws up all kinds of complex agonies within me, Dawn, in your characteristic, multi-faceted way. Another fine write, deftly composed, easy and conversational, and yet so, so deep... could almost be as much directed at God as at another deeply-longed for person, it seems to me. Amazing the depths of feelings we can have for somebody who would appear to have not that same emotional make-up - or even remotely the same psychological make-up as ourselves. Love truly has a mind of its own. What REALLY perplexes me, which you have hightlighted, to me, at least, so well, is this idea that some people's love we are just unable to receive in the way they mean us to; THEY may think they are VERY loving, and yet it doesn't touch us where and how it should. These relationships must be so, so tricky, cos it's not like either party WANTS them to fail... but they are just ultimately mismatched, however well-intentioned. Another emotional fire-cracker here, Dawn and very well written. TY Kate xx

Must be Gods frustration too.
Powerful rant. Effective because of all the restraint.
In a horror of horrors.

Heartwrenching in that one can be so unaware of the force of love from another. This is wonderfully written and terribly sad.
