In every sunset hope is gathered, tucked into night - a basket of remembrance, petals tossed with a gratitude that takes root, flowering darkness with spinning pinwheels, an inextinguishable light.
An extraordinary and poetically profound expression of articulating the near-impossible... but with your unique and evocative imagery you have got these feelings spot on, Dawn... leading in from "My sky bled most beautiful in your departure" - which is, in itself, something to brood upon as pure poetry - the following stanza and the image of that "flowering darkness with spinning pinwheels, an inextinguishable light." is just that je ne sais quoi of the bouyancy of hope and contentment that is not determined by the reality of the sometimes harsh actualities. The image of life is often reflected back to us in reverse and you have so skillfully presented that for us in this excellent offering, Dawn. So often, that which makes us sad also brings us happiness. An enigma of sorts I suspect, but it certainly attests to the flexibility and fortitude of the human spirit. Very nice work!!
