I am this tree
gnarly and knotted
scarred through and spotted
longing to be
decorated
consecrated
beautiful again.

This tree is me
stripped of spring glory
strong in this story
waiting to see
my summer friend
his ear to bend
before last sunset.

The gnarled and knotted tree has seen it all before, and is ingrained with inate wisdom and perception !
I agree with Michelle below, this is a singularly outstanding tree story Dawn
Reminded me of Treebeard in Lord of the Rings !
