Your silence, a tyranny, a tear
that turned into another river flowing
into eternity
And, in the time after time,
transmuted back to love.
In its perfect shape, reflection,
remembrance, redirection.
Another great return.
Turn, turn, turn.
How all your turns emptied me
of any last lingering ties
to this life or any other.
What joy would it bring me
to see the collapse of perhaps
the only thing true
not reconciled?
The turn of the tide
brings the turn of truth
that shall be seen.
You, sleeper, swept up in your dream
seem surrendered to a wanton way
dressed up in its party clothes
as something other.
Mesmerized, you sacrificed.
Captivated, you capsized your life
and much more on that shore.
The devastation a tsunami, loss. Yet,
all your wrath wholly insignificant to me.
Can you not see? Look!
They all died believing me to be
who you painted me to be.
Yet, in this one thing they
were right and I was wrong.
I am not weak. I am strong.
They said it all along
as they tried to break me.
And though they judged me for it,
their fear and yours shall not deter it.
I will carry, carry on
and keep my eyes
fixed on the skies.
Awake I am awash again
on the seas of time
Becoming the vessel
that rides the rapids
with faith
with hope
with love
These three remain—
and I.
Can you not see me?
I, too, once was blind.
But now I see
who walks with me.
