Have you gone fishing again?
I thought it relaxation
but perhaps there's more to that
story than first I could see.

My guess is money can buy
an awful lot of things but
in the end why play pretend
in real life and watch bad guys

On TV? What attraction
is there in not being who
it is you want to be? Free
from strings, I write poetry

Have no need to prove myself
as good at work, at church, in
the neighborhood. I am
at peace in my heart and soul.

I am free, and I am whole. 
Would-be drive-by assassins
do not frighten me. I have
survived greater tyranny.

I see now all the trips you
might have made to turn others
against me. Maybe it worked.
I'm sure it didn't cost much.

All things bought and sold can be
the chains that lock you in cold
prison cell you make yourself. 
I remember fishing boat.

I was so happy that day. 
And back when we three were just
kids scrambling over boulders
in the rambling mountain stream.
