positive and negative light...

There are many alternatives…
Sometimes there is no alternative.

There are numerous options…
What are my options?
Your options are great…
Your options are slim.

Is there hope?
Yes…there is hope…
There is no hope.

Could there be a chance?
There is always a chance…
You did not have a chance…
I wish I had a chance…
You had your chance.

Are there candles left?
There are so many candles left…
Can they burn much longer…
these candles?

I will light them for myself…
Who will extinguish them?

I just love this...so lyrically beautiful. I hope your candle burns brightly forever. Take care, Diana.

Yin and yang, pro and con, light and dark, countermeasures. Thought-provoking write ...
It isn't many who can write about both with an even hand. Applause.

Keep in touch,

Sandy

Dear colleague John, Your poem is very nicely written and it makes sense. To light a candle is in our hand but we do not control those crazy ones who extinguish them. I wrote a poem which could interest you. It is called "The Peasant and the Angel of Death" Thank you for visiting my Den. Emile

Balance is a close comparison of your views within this poem...whether dark, light...good, evil....there are many choices and decisions throughout life...yet it is always ours, our choice to light candles and find that burning desire to live within the success we create...only we can extinguish our lighted path, for it is He who has made our Destiny....

nice work John.....

Yours and my candle lights the way, but many choose to burn things down with their candle.

I pray that only God will extinguish my candle. Love the metaphor or the candle.

Your play on words shows a mind ever working on the choices life has to offer and what you can do about them. Fine writing John!

John, you captured and expressed the absurdity of our all-too-definite sayings and 'consoling' phrases.

As for your ending question: 'the wind, the wind'....

Well done.
