wishes take wing...

On a gray afternoon
with a broken promise of rain
up to this moment…
I reflect upon the year
which will soon end…
to be safely stored within
the archives of my memory.
And it is
in these remaining hours left…
that the angels ready the skies
with balloons of prism quality…
and requisition the wind
to carry streamers from
continent to continent
to celebrate the confetti treasures
of the soul…
and renewal of the heart.
As the silent ticking of minutes
dwindles to the
midnight
awakening
of a new morning…
the angels outstretch their wings
to greet the happiness
of mortal thoughts left behind…
and resolve to lift us
closer to the heavens.

Now, how come when I want to say something glorious and inspiring like that I feel like I sound like I am lecturing someone???? Your phrasing is captivating!

We all need greater FAITH & Resolve like you that each year we can be lifted closer to our dreams and the heavens! Like all poets you have a backlog of inspired writings, some you may have even forgotten about. Glad it's getting published here.

Sweet thoughts, John. I do not know where I'd be now if it were not for angels looking after me. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Very Creative and filled with unique lines of imagery...especially,
viewing angels,
"...carry streamers from
continent to continent
to celebrate the confetti treasures
of the soul…"
How cool is that?!
Happy New Year, John

Bittersweet thoughts as one reads this poem, an uplifting poem to be sure. Still the past year has had its moments, good and bad and some downright awful, but the spirit survived in good stead, ready to tackle the New Year with faith and gusto . . .
