In writing wrongs forgiving ink
in silence never told
on slivered heart papyrus
and in bindings etched in gold.

Though cactus wings of angels
and haloed thorns remain
deserted waters yet are sought
when tears transpire rain.

What color breezes memory
in canyons lost in thought
of hours once in bleeding sun
the seraph soon forgot.

Yet one I loved in tender
now cast upon the sea
to sail on sanded sunsets
of timeless reverie.

Then stars as ashes fallen
in syllables above
will never become separate
a broken word of love.

This moon of desert wishes
in craters of my mind
may never know the beauty
of one so loved in time.

For granted I have taken
forgotten you the same
for giving finds remembrance
when I fall upon your name.

John,

Each stanza, and, in fact, each syllable uttered within this piece holds special beauty and allure; however, within the last, the words, "for giving finds remembrance when I fall upon your name," tugs heavily upon my heart. John, you are indeed a master at this game. When the day arrives...and it will...that all your splendor is bound, then I wish to be the first in line for an autographed copy.

The spirituality of the desert and the sea, moon and stars combined to render a soulful expression of love and love lost, and one (or maybe more) forgiven. Beautiful and touching symbolism.

I must admit that I always read your poems more than once...to bask in the pure brilliance of them...
The word play in this one is... well...brilliant!
This is a different style for you, and although I loved the meaning of it...and the cadence...and the depth...and the way it made me think... I can't decide if I like it better or not. :~) (How is that for decisiveness??)
hee, hee... (LOL may be politically correct, but when I laugh I don't LOL, I hee, hee...)

I love this poem, so true and dedicated to all your readers and I hope dedicated authors and readers will absorb it's meaning too, like I have. We must all ask for forgiveness, and go on with our life and live cleaner and truer and closer to God. Peace to you to and have a great day.

To digest that which eats at our heart, depending on its portion...can be a feast in itself, regardless.
To be reminded, is to live it over and over...
to ask for forgiveness, puts it to its death!
(cacti and thorn baggage...never claimed)

My mind can go off in several directions, everytime I read it!
So, depending on how many times I sit here and read it...why, I outta have about ten poems in the making all at once!
Outstanding performance, John!
Love and Peace~

There's a fine musicality to this one - ornate noted words on love and forgiving/forgotten - some of the most serenly hand-tooled words and play on words and images I've ever read;everything from stars to desert craters & canyons and sanded sunsets. Hell, I'd like to hang-out wherever it is you receive your initial inspiration to write this stuff....
good luck and more, michael

For giving you should be blessed, because you have parted with something that belonged to you so it canbelong to someone that need's it more.
Forgiving, you should be blessed, because you will forget the abuse and no dwell in emotional injury.
It all will fall upon your name.

You don't often write in metered rhyme, John, but this somehow suits you very well. The rhyme only adds to its beauty. And isn't that how the mind works as well? ...all that milenation taking memories and pocketing them in organized lines-- sometimes lost upon the reader? But the cadence of the piece gently rocks my mind into a state of relaxation and remembering. It's a soft poem of intraspection and contemplation. I love-love the last stanza-- the separation of 'for' and 'give'... because really forgiving is a gift we give... and the last phrase is beautifully visual, with a hint of something more... the implications of falling... some idioms: falling to your knees... falling for something... falling in love... falling for someone... and conjoined with "your name", you get something of a mix between all those falling implications and "bumping into" and "coming across" and "whenever I hear your name" and so many, many more idioms there is not room for them all... But you see how mixing up words like that brings a wealth of meanings front-forward in my oh-too mileanated brain.

My words are falling off the page. --Charlie
