~My Heart Belongs To Kev~
A few months after you were born,
You were diagnosed with a hole in your heart.
Everyone was of the opinion that,
This world, you would soon depart.
You were deteriorating so quickly,
Your face now looked so pale.
To operate now would not be right,
Your body had become so frail.
The family all rallied together,
Raised the funds to send you away.
Very soon, we'd know the outcome,
Don't let it be too late, we pray!
Operation after operation,
Done over the next few years,
You seemed to be getting better,
That dispelled all our fears.
Ten years passed before I saw you again,
Tho' we talked on the phone quite frequently.
You recalled what I said to you all those years ago,
That if ever you needed it, my heart belonged to thee.
Soon, my little darling, you will be nineteen,
Full of spunk and with such a zest for living.
You've grown up to be a healthy kid,
One who is so loving, caring and giving.
