So beautiful, CJ. I could just imagine a young lad sitting on a boulder pelting rocks into the churning waves. "That lighthouse must be magic...I hear it call to me..." Precious!
I know this is a poem meant for children, but as an adult I find this a wistful, lovely write...simplistic and balm to the reader's eyes. Bravo my friend! Michelle

I recall my 1960s' childhood holidays spent in Dunoon in the west of Scotland. The sea traffic was busy with passenger ferries, liners and the occasional polaris sub to remind us that the world was still insecure (as if it ever was secure). Anyway, what I loved at night was the silence across the blackness where during the day blue would be. But in place of the silence was the intermitent flashlight of the Clok Lighthouse on the Clyde coast. What a magic atmosphere for a fertile mind to indulge in the same way that your lighthouse does for you.
I drove a mini bus load of students back from Arran to Glasgow in 2001. We took the road that went past Clok. I was keen to show the students who all lived in London. Imagine my sadness when I discovered that the lighthouse was out of commision. Be this as it may, the white structure remained intact and still stands to this day.
Thanks for writing a poem that stirred this moment of nostalgia.

Love those old lighthouses
Used to visit the ones in Cape Cod, Mass
And while on Vacation the ones in Puerto Rico
In a small town Called Cabo Rojo
There the poeple are proud of their Touristic ligth house
Not only does this read like a lighthouse you have seen, it seems a great metaphor of an idea, or belief, or anything that one can look to for peace of mind. Would guiding light be too corny or cliche?
