I had you in the Sierra Madres out there,
in the wide opened spaces, well at least you took me there
outstanding write, you never disappoint your readers.
Oh I still carry the scars from climbing trees...almost lost my arm through that!!
Thanks for sharing....brought back many memories!!

Ha! When I was young I used to be forever climbing trees - some dangerously high. I pretended I was a character in Enid Blyton's 'The Enchanted Wood' and was climbing to see what land was at the top of the trees. Bless our imaginations!! Children need more encouragement to pretend and use their minds, it's more fun too :o)

CJ an important lesson here and also a wonderful poem of rhyme

CJ, this may be your best children's poem EVER. It has the lilt, rhyme, and bounce that is loved by the kids. It shows the wonderful and unlimited imagination only children can muster. It shows you are the best children's poet who has been around for a long time. IMHO

probably have a heart attack!!
This is an outstanding children's write
I thought it was very very Interesting to read

And the imagery was so vivid and the flow

I can see this in a book spread out throughout all the preschools and Kindergarten classes, with every, prickly-prickly, tickly-tickly, higher-higher, rustle-rustle, hustle-hustle, tippity top, and flippity flop, every Shhh-shhh use tippy-toes, sliding-gliding, hiding-hiding, Danger-danger,down-down, growling-growling, grumpy-grumpy part, all the children are acting out the words together!
I will try it on the babies! :)

Ah, very witty ending - unexpected too:) For a while the reading had me translated to Burnham Wood, Dunkeld, Perthshire. I took my daughter in there years ago. Not so much a climb vertically, but horizontally through the forest and thickets till we near got lost.
Hmm, flight of stairs? I find stairs get steeper as I get older - and it is the same stairs too!
This poem would surely put a grin on a child's face - did mine.
