PLEASE ADJUST THE VOLUME SLIDER ON THE WEBPAGE PLAYERS TO MAXIMUM - you do this by clicking on the little speaker icon on the far right side of the player and while holding, slide it as far to the right as it will go. It also sounds best with your speaker volume set at about 2-3 o'clock position. I did this on mine and they are a little above average speakers but it sounds best. The reason: MP3's are a compressed format and these recordings were recorded by setting meter values on the recording for a normal sub-peak level then mixed without any compression or effects, unlike radio music which is severely compressed, boosted and the like for usually electric music.
AND: Take note, your reviews and opinions have helped me decide. For those who helped me choose between take#1 and take#2 it was overwhelming that take#2 was better (not perfect but better) SO, I deleted the player for Take#1 and have left the preferred take here. THANKS. I would fine tune the performance but I have a bucket full of tunes that I need to demo - so on to something else - it will get better!

Hi Michael, as requested by you I have listened to both, and you are right when you said double-tracking is diffficult...I would have to give you a 'A' for your persistance, but that's the character trait of one who is all consumed by what they do.

What a beautiful song, I always love your lyrics. You know as the song played I sang some flourishes with it. You should do that if you can, really lightly in the background...I love both takes and it makes me think of yesteryears...The chorus, hmm, "But I gotta go home now..." love the melody!
I liked the second take -- I could understand the lyrics better. I think maybe the song wants to be slower, because they're deep lyrics, but they're sung like shallow water. But don't take my word for it. Get other opinions.
I get all absorbed inside of it inside my head inside of me, and I have to wade through layers and layers of froth to get back out, so by that time, it's hard to translate what I was thinking/feeling while listening.
Here's what I like about the tune: It has a kind of monotony to it. It goes on and on with occasional rises and falls in different tones, but it is forever, like the river. It changes speeds a bit at the choruses, and returns to them like little eddies. And the tune has the quality that it clings to the mind, and will repeat forever and ever...
Anyways, I think that the lyrics match the tune. --Charlie
