I think my scales must be connected to the price controls at the gas station.
The prices of gas is getting scary
And it directly touches old Larry.
I think my scales have a real relation
To the prices at the service station.
I think the prices of each of the sales
Is from a connection to my own scales.
When I was younger and much in my prime
The cost was just two dollars and a dime.
When my weight went up from eating plenty
it increased to two dollars and twenty.
You can imagine how it worries me
As the prices increase up to near three.
Oh sure, they go down a penny or two
but they keep going up before they’re through.
I guess this must be caused by gluttony
The question’s – is it them or is it me?
Does my waistline cause increasing prices?
Am I the cause of the latest crisis.?
If you help me lose it would be nifty
And gas would sell at to a dollar fifty.

Thank you for putting a smile on my face. I enjoyed this very much.
Best regards,
Chris
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
Best regards,
Chris
