An illness hits me every fall.
October’s when it’s beginning.
It hits me very suddenly
and last until the ninth inning.
I retired a few years ago
so I could keep that month open.
But each year I have more meetings
than I was really hopin’.
My team’s made the playoffs once more
but it will not matter again.
On days they are scheduled to play
if I watched it would be a sin.
My dilemma presents a choice
with few options from which to pick.
I know I should go to the meetings
but I can’t help it if I’m sick!
