My Mom

My Mom
By Kathy Armijo


 


Mom, the vessel of life.
She carried me in her womb.
She loved me even before I was born.
Then, one day I entered this world.


The joy she felt was uncontainable.
To finally hold this child, unfathomable.
After my first breath, I cried.
She was frightened, yet she comforted me.


This was the beginning of unconditional love.
Mom would always be my teacher, mentor and friend.
After all, Mom knew she had to keep me on track.
For her there was no slack.


She taught me to be strong and confident.
This was her legacy to me.
She instilled in me the need to pray,
Which I continue to do every day.


She taught me many things:
To be kind, to love, to be compassionate and thankful.
She drilled these into my skull.
For her tenacity, I am grateful.


Mom has always been my hero.
Each day I am thankful for her guidance and love.
I know she gets her strength from God above.
For what is a Mom?  She’s bountiful love!

I have a good relationship with my Mother, and with my grandmother, this reminded me alot of them

Kathy,

I envy you, because you have a mom who loved you from birth. I was literally sold the first time around, and adopted the second time.

However, that is exactly how I felt when I carried my son in my womb and being a mom has been one of best experiences of my life!

So I raise my glass to the moms who are as you say:

“This was the beginning of unconditional love.
Mom would always be my teacher, mentor and friend.
After all, Mom knew she had to keep me on track.
For her there was no slack.”

My mom is gone, but she lives on in my heart. I am sorry you lost your mom; my grandmother wasn't like most; she was rather spiteful, hard to get along with, stubborn! WOW! Worse'n a mule, she was! Holy Moley!! Very well done, Kathy; brava!

I didn't have a mom like that. But..I had a grandmother that was that..She was my Nana, I miss her dearly..Thank you for your heartfelt poem.

what wonderful memories you bring to me. My mother used to listen to my early sermons and smile in approval. She didn't have much of a life as far as material things, but she brought 7 children into this world and got us started right.

A wonderful tribute to your mom, my mom is one of my best friends, she was my strength when I was growing up, as she continues to be today. My mom was a bit unique, she and I actually even double dated father and son, my friends could never understand this of course at sixteen most girls don't want to double date with their moms...I didn't care, she was a ball to be with and still is. We've been through many tough times, sickness, deaths, fun times, joy, holidays, and so much more...I cherish every day with her. Thank you my friend for such a touching write! Well done!

My mum say's to me... Blimey boy, look at all the hassle you give, for nine months lodging..lol
Mums are fab.. (Andy thinks..... bar my son's mum)
My hero was me dad... I think girls stay close to mum, whereas from 11 up lads need their dads...

Hmmm, so yer mum gave AD a treasure too....
