You were sent to me
from God above.
I’d been divorced for
quite a long while.

Had this odd conversation with God –
made Him smile when I
gave Him my list of
the traits I wanted in a husband.

I never made any demands,
just
left it in His hands.
To be single or married was up to Him.

About seven months later, you showed up at my door.
and threw my heart into an uproar
You’d come to pick-up my brother, Andrew.
In that moment, I knew.

It was YOU for sure.
It was you I began to adore.
I remember my son’s indignation
at his mother’s infatuation and flirtation.

Our first date – a church dance.
It was God’s confirmation
That your love you would be my life’s haven.
You’ve said you really never had a chance.

You could have walked away.
He really wouldn’t have hit you with a lightening bolt.
The cards were indeed stacked in my favor,
But, you could have said, “see you later.”

Fourteen months later,
We said, “I do.”
We pledged to be true to each other,
Our whole life through.

We’ve had our ups and down
thankfully, in our love we rebound.
The love we share,
is greater than we hoped or dared.

Your love fills my night and days.
My darling!  My sweetheart!
Our love,
A testament to – “til death do us part.”

I’m glad you are my love.
My other half.
The half that makes me whole.
