Day after day,
she leans her
plain,
thin
frame against the cold, hard
brick walls
that outline her
faintly.
The majority of her school's population
mills about her,
laughing with friends,
shuffling through halls,
existing.
She does not join in the fray.
She mooves not a muscle.
If you would stop,
if I would stop,
we might see that she
has perfect,
white teeth
behind the metal braces.
If we would listen,
we would find that her voice is lovley,
can fill an
entire room
with
music
when given the chance.
We might relize that her eyes are windows
to her fenced-in soul,
grimed by years of unegknowlagement,
smudged by the fingerprints
of those who
just
keep
walking.
But if we squint,
If we rub some residue away,
the silent pleading
and desperation
that resides within her
will be visible.
How many of us have felt that way? Too numerous to count, I'm sure.
Some of the most beautiful people that I know are no pagent beauty, but their insides - oh, my goodness! Beauty shines forth from their every pore, you just have to SEE them in their entirety.
Natasha, Natasha, You are ahead of yourself dear, you write such beautiful words to share with us. I am really impressed for your age and to think you were going to keep this for you and only you. It is a terrible thing to go through life unoticed, a feeling of being seperated from the rest of the world. As you said, if you could just look past the imperfections, there is a beautiful person waiting to share and love. Thank you darling.

She needs to be brave and reach out and find that inner strength she has...Very poignant and perceptive poem...
You have painted a picture seen by keen eyes of a girl just standing while others pass her by. One day she will blossom into a beautiful young woman, patience is the key. A very lovely write....
This is amazing Natasha...the depth of feeling, compassion and honesty displayed in this write is pure poetry of the heart. I am impressed for this poem and your words are applicable not just to this school girl, but to people of all ages and walks of life and I have to say again...your words are far wiser than your years...lovely.
Sad: if one's not part of the popular crowd, they're invisible. If one has a disability, they're invisible. If one does not give in to peer pressure, they're invisible. An excellent write, thought provoking, a call for change, perhaps? Well done.
“The woman or man who is a poet, or fiction writer, or playwright, or all of these, is engaged constantly in a jazz ballet of vocabularies, passions, genders, histories, perspectives, death, love, and life. The music of revelation announces itself to
