You’re a blizzard in the summer
Snow-tipped fingers grasp my heart,
With an icy grip that somehow melts
Each tiny, frozen part.

Your winds are sharp and binding
With each mesmerizing gust,
I find myself, thick coat and all,
Succumbing to your lust.

And although the air is frosty
With a cold that’s almost hot,
One single glance from you my way
Is heat that can’t be bought.

No house can lend me shelter,
No fire keep me warm,
I’m addicted to the goosebumps,
Infatuated with the storm.

Won’t you wrap me in the snowbanks,
Leave your chill upon my cheeks?
Resist the warmth of May and June,
Revel in winter’s peak?

Will you tumble down amid the ice,
Lace up your skates with me?
We’ll slice straight through the pounding wind
The cold will set us free.

The temperature is dropping
But inside, I’m heating up,
The frozen sweat that coats my limbs
Could fill a thousand cups.

So pierce my dripping, snow-flaked flesh
With icy fingernails,
Lash your gale upon my back,
Walk my heart down Dead End Trail.

Send me on a fast-paced sleigh ride
That leaves me cold and dazed,
Wisk away my winter clothes,
Throw me out into the haze.

For every gust of wind-blown snow
You snap across my face,
Will be met with all-too willing arms
Of fire’s sweet embrace.

Although these torches and these lighters
Are no match for winter’s wrath,
Behind this sheltering snowbank
I can slowly melt you back.

I've been missing your writings lately. But it was worth the wait.
Beautiful, fresh words can change a person's whole outlook on cold.
Love the line "Infatuated with the storm."
Great work.
Thanks--RaeLynn
