Did you see the cemetery as you came up? Yes.
Well… do you know why they don’t bury the people that are living in Helen there?
No Why? Because... they are still living! Godfather Fred

wooden rockers on a white long porch
Blue Ridge mountains from these front doors

the gentle sighs and hearty smiles
my godfather’s jokes and cardinals

20 shades of varied green
long tall grass along the breeze

those places kept within our hearts
I love you hugs and symbolic marks

a dragonfly hovers over the lawn
a cross town rooster crows at dawn

the locals keep a gentler face while I adore
their southern drawl and happy pace

the feel is nice, sweet, and calm
just like ice tea with sugar charm

I thought of my mother.. if this was her view
and why she ever dreamed to leave… and sad because I
knew

This nostalgic piece is the best, Debby. I'm a Georgia girl, having come back home (albeit Atlanta) after living in a dozen other spots. And I LOVE the North Georgia Mountains, even Helen minus the crazy touristy stuff, and get up there as often as I can. Beautiful! Dawn

Wonderful imagery, Debby, and a wonderful nostalgic write - my favorite kind.

The Libra Solution: Shedding Excess and Redefining Success by Lisa DAnnolfo Levey

The familiar lament of dual-career parents raising children is, "I just can't do it all." The Libra Solution provides an alternative - a more satisfying and sustainable work and life approach - to the overwrought modern day norm.
