this is me naked standing before you
no wardrobe, no makeup, no thing just me
with this flame in my heart
that has existed longer than I can remember

this flame that has never left me
though I tried to ignore it, avoid it, and repel it
this flame flickered on
I even tried to recreate it, sacrificing myself
body, mind, and soul
allowing myself to be consumed
holy fire this flame flickered on
while I searched the horizons for its source of meaning
this flame flickered insistence
as if Isis were searching for Osiris
this flame flickered on
through every experience and connection
until finally it was all that was left
this flame in my heart
impatient it flares “trust”
and I feared it
for I’d been misdirected and mislead
danced with Satan and then kissed God
as I walked into…and then walked out...of the fire
and still this flame is in my heart
and it is never extinguished

this is me naked standing before you
no wardrobe, no makeup, no thing just me
with this flame in my heart
and tears in my eyes

with this flame in my heart
indefinable real and unaltered
this flame that belongs with you
