Poem Artwork

in my lap lays a journal
black velvet, embroidered,
red thread,
symbols, and patterns
like leaves and spirals
hearts and flowers
a ribbon keeps the pages
and blue marks…
keep my ramblings in line

I wonder where is the book
that holds all the thoughts
and feelings I keep close
to my heart, those words
never written but known
to the privacy of my inwards

lust filled cravings
so delicious my heart
accelerates
and my skin warms
as they creep into
the moments of daily life

depth of emotions
when compassion arrives
and visions of sadness
penetrate my brain…
my eyes water and I quietly
sniffle, because…how can
you turn off suffering

then the distracts of the self
and awareness of existence,
the focus on joy,
and the quiet of the mind
because that book… that book
is volumes of infinite pages
and an eternity of journals
dedicated…
to keep you in mind

Yes indeed Debby, "how can you turn off suffering?" One ache at a time I guess is the only answer. Beautiful write full of emotion and care.

This is like unzipping your heart and showing the reader a private room in you filled with love and hope and rose petals and the dew of heavens goodness. I dig it!

This is a powerful poem - the journal in your mind. I have one, and no one but me knows what's there. Some I could share, but choose to keep them hidden. Some - no one would understand.

Books are like literary rivers full of words waves.
The spiritual ones are the purest waters of all.
