this has been in the incomplete file far too long (2006), I tweak and put away, sit silent, tweak and put away, sit silent, allowing for its reveal...decided now to let it rest here...

in opposite poles of life or death
was there ever one without the other?

in pendulum swing becoming alive
then quickly returned decay and demise
salvation surely must live in the middle
the place of the balance must solve the riddle
where wholeness justly comes, full circle

can one banish the death within the self
giving it license to become immortal?

the psyche so influenced by
mortality's zeal and the religious dogmas
the spirit reels, when all it ever wanted
was to know "what is real"?

so there it is to be spoken of
eyes big with wonder
privy to opportunities
hands extending curiosity

shared, expressed and listened to
the wisdom of its use
for harm was never its intent
so often we leave too soon

but is life ever lost?
isn't it just the body expiring
that temporary shell that allowed us to play the game?
and the personality perhaps evaporates
of the beliefs and quirks of essence
but what we Are, the conscious
that knows alive, is always here
and never dies, as it moves in... and out... of form.

We survive through our DNA, passed down through generations. We also survive by our work, recorded by history to educate and enlighten future generations.

For many reasons I am convinced of reincarnation, and think that when all the lessons are learned from the many lives we have led, we return to Source energy...and thus immortality...

Most of us fail to realize, it's not the body which houses the soul, it's the soul which houses the body, then eventually moves on, or returns ...

written from within the soul ...

You raise good questions. I, for sure know not the answers. Still, most of us would like to think we are immortal. Maybe reincarnation immortal. Some are convinced that Heaven is our immortality. There are other suggestions about mankind's immortality, and I haven't succumbed to any of them fully, although reincarnation does appeal to me. Dorian Gray attempted immortality. It didn't work out too well for him.
