i go to these rocks
and sit on a fault line
they radiate warmth
while i absorb sun

easily i nap
on my cradle nearby
and i'm swiftly escorted
to someother timeline

it is night in the woods
a celebration of sorts
homemade instruments
of strings and of flutes

everyone caught into
a light footed circle
dancing and hugging
swirling around

taking a moment
to catch my breath
a woman walks up
she is petite in frame
with long brown hair
and says "i am his wife"

i never heard what else
she said as the music
drowned her out
but i'll never forget
the look in her eyes
for they were very sad

about that time
i felt a chill
the sun was setting down
sitting in shadows
no longer warm
i awake to the sound of a crow

hike back down
the back of the fault line
being careful where i step
wondering now who that woman was
and why she sought me out
