Poem Artwork

the feminine sees the nature in things
nurture compassion softness of mother
guiding inspiring yielding of form
flowing the delicate of butterfly wings

the masculine sees the driving of things
focused headstrong sturdy of father
guiding inspiring building of form
harnessing the strength of eagle wings

yin knows gardens and meadows
and ponds of minnows
yang knows oceans and currents
and schools of dolphins

one sails forth, engines full speed
one lingers often, gazing at trees
energy is energy, current flows
then filters within the receiving vessel

balancing the vessel
within ourselves
is learning that we
is both he and she

some times we are soft
other times we are hard
some times we are temper
other times we are tempered

some days, it is everything
some days, it is nothing at all

Our human genome is full of viruses similar to HIV-1. These have played an important role in human evolution and still play an important role in human embryology and day-to-day chemistry. Just how important are they to our evolution past and future?
