A whisper of a wind
Blows back the hair from my tear streaked eyes
I remember a talk I had with someone,
One I’d rather forget.
It was just yesterday when this person
broke my heart. He called me in his
office, and softly closed the door. He
called me by my first name and told me
to sit down.
I knew what he was going to say, hoping I was wrong.
But he told me the truth, not much of a surprise. Like
venom, the words came through his mouth, “your husband
has cancer, there’s not much we can do.” But it’s
not completely hopeless, new things happen everyday.
I didn’t want to hear his spiel, so I just ran out the door.
I know fate cannot be controlled; it’s the master of us all.
I'm not absorbing all of this, my mind is not a sponge.
But I will be strong for him, there’s just no other way.
I look up at the sky above and ask the Lord why. I’m not a
strong person when it comes to this. I’m certainly
no Job.
But Lord, I’ve one thing to ask of you. If you plan to
take the one I love, make it painless and in peace.
untill there is no more
I can not say "I know How you feel"
But I will keep you both in my prayers
Love & peace be with you
William
I wish both you and your husband strength to soldier on through these dark day's. Your poem is testimony to your inner strength, and beautifully written.
Take care always, Stuart
not completely hopeless, new things happen everyday.
They certainly do, and our thoughts and prayers are with both of you, Mary.

Be always safe,
Karen
So sorry to hear the news - can't imagine - this comes as close to terror as I would want to feel (and I don't) - vividly expressed sadness - I think it ought to be required of all in the medical profession to be admitted as a patient for two weeks - to see what it's like to have "gods" standing over you, speaking in a language you don't understand - ignoring your requests for pain relief - for a little COMPASSION, for God's sake - you and your hubby are in my prayers.
(((((HUGS))))) and love, Karla. *tears*
