Why do you do whatever you love?

Why do I write?
A simple question my teacher asked me
A piece of cake, how hard could this be
In my mind, the question was so easy
But when I went to respond, a blank
piece of paper stared back at me.
This was an easy question, why did I
pause, this was a breeze.
But my fingers didn’t move, as if
I was in a deep freeze.
I hadn’t thought it through so much before,
I simply did it, it may be feel good, it
certainly wasn’t a chore. Was this a
good enough answer, or did she want more?
When I feel angry, sad, or get something off my chest
Marrying mind with paper is simply the best.
Let’s forget all that and cut to chase, and tell it
like it is. And as once I told a man, six simple words,
The reason I write is because I can!

but of course Mary -- you can, but most importantly, you desire to write, to relate -- there, you've said it, and said it well -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael
