Believe in a god, that's just fine
Share that belief and you draw a line
On one side is all you hold to be true
The other holds those now different from you
In the beginning only honesty shared your heart
From the true path you'd never part
But as you nurse your growing flower
Others see only wealth and power
In your name your followers they'll take
Only new rules they'll selfishly make
All your noble thoughts they've took
Turned into some monstrous book
With this the ruling group contrives
To tell you how to run your lives
The arrogance they have in their cause
Leads only to so called holy wars
I don't want them the world to fleece
I'd rather humanity live in peace
So for the sake of our mankind
Share not any god you may find
Be sure the excuses they've all gone
And organised religions there are NONE!
This is not aimed at any one specific religion but at the idea in general.

I agree with so much of your poem. Yet, as many have already said, religion is not God. Religion is human. Trask is right, don't apologize. Yet you should seek God, not man's version of Him.

People who practice "religion" are seldom spiritual. And too few evangelists are actually witnessing the truth of God. The true test of a person's spirituality is not what comes out of their mouths, but what they do with their lives when they think no one is looking.
