Like a husband to his new bride
Smiling I took the daily ride
I started off filled with pride
With every rule I fully complied
Now I see the change I'd prefer to hide
Of doing the things from once I'd shied
For greed and Mammon I then lied
Into other's dark secrets pried
As for that extra promotion vied
When asked why I simply replied
There is not enough time to bide
Now I know just how hard I tried
To earn that reputation far and wide
Enjoying the spoils as others cried
Into an evil circle I was tied
Then I knew that before I died
And with the stress my brain fried
Listen to my heart so long defied
And the truth just as easily denied
To leave the jungle I must decide

retirement from the zoo
where street lights proclaim invisible fences
concrete walls called ‘a view’ cost more
clocking in and out for
water cooler tabloid talk and
knifing a friend in the back earns us
a shrewd (and therefore valuable) reputation
David,
Nice to see some honest, daily life poetry for a change,
MUSH,its a bit like living on ice cream for months on end, seen one you have seen them all
Keep up the good work Sir,
