Once Easter came and went
No fancy cards were ever sent
Kids had no school for a week
Some excitement they could seek

If Christ it was that ruled your heart
For your church you would start
That was what this time was for
Belief was at Easter’s core

Away from that we’ve been led
A commercial line we’re now fed
It’s not being good we must try
It’s some products we should buy

You think of many a friend
Yet only a card you’ll send?
The child for whom you live
A chocolate egg is best to give?

When all the pressure mounts
We forget what really counts
Ask them what they really miss
Time is what brings true bliss

A new role for you now found
To spread all your money round
Business greed has now stole
Easter’s traditional role
