Why Poetry?

Edited repost from last year.

Wandering lonely as a cloud
Words I speak far too loud
Those around do stop and stare
No comprehension in their glare
Shrug and regard me as some freak
Simply because it's verse I speak
Poets may write to ease their soul
Or for some more altruistic goal
These simple words that they pen
Should get you asking Why! What! When!
That this is true is why I'll happily
Continue to indulge in writing Poetry
