Boy to Man
(a septet)
The soldier
a boy young and brave
cares naught but to protect us
trained to fight, yet fearful nonetheless
wanting to safely come home
Caught 'tween peace and war
now a man.
A Soldier's Five Senses
Can you see me?
I smile at the thought of you.
Can you see me?
I tremble at your sadness
Can you hear me?
I cry, yet I shed no tears.
Can you hear me?
I sigh, yet I try to have no fears.
Can you touch me?
My warmth is your embrace.
Can you touch me?
To my very soul, you are.
Can you smell me?
At times I do emit fear.
Can you smell me?
It is to you that I shed my glow.
Can you taste me?
It is your lips that keep me.
Can you taste me?
It is for you I must survive.

Your words highlight their duty, their unquestionable sense of bravery and honor.
Both beautifully written.
