I Know

In the event that I never see you again
I know that your eyes have seen my soul
And the growth of love that you have planted there

In the event that I never taste your mouth again
I’ll take comfort in remembering the devouring
Urgency of your kisses

In the event that I never feel the fire of your touch again
I know that gentle liquid sensations
Will again spill in warmth

In the event that I wake tomorrow only to find
Your place and pillow undisturbed
I know in my heart that these glorious events will repeat
Themselves tonight…

And I will have you with me forever…

I know
