take this tightness

away -

this strangulation

of my insides

where i am in this

wretched corner

of the world

and can only utter

the tails of screams

my head is disfigured

with a

tightrope around it.

i can't think my thoughts

i can't feel my shell,

my soul is querulous

and wants to get out

any way it can

if it drowns in

my own boiling blood

then so be it -

it won't care

let go of my knees

they want to give up

they are too weak

to withstand the weight

of disillusionment

slow

slow

slow are my weary feet

they beg for mercy in

constricted skin

they refuse

to cross the

finish line

No -

not yet

there is one

more thing to do -

loosen the tightness -

let me rise

to the top of just

one

scream

ahhhh

i have not cried -

i have not cried -

let me just cry -

Please

just

let

me

cry

i need to shut my eyes tight -

and cry

Nothing feels better than a good cry or a good write. This has the benefit of being both.

Marilyn, this tugs at my heart. The hurt must run very deep to produce this poem. You are a risen presence now and forever. Rise abve earhly woe and take flight to the nearest star and rest on a cloud until it all subsides and all the beauty and love in your heart surfaces once again. Bill
