Keeping company with a carousel horse that goes
‘round and ‘round, never getting off, never to be
free, a woman sits not knowing that they both
have so much in common.
Controlled by people, they are forced to don
bright carnival clothes to attract attention
She has people that she sees, and so does the horse -
they come for visits time and time again, pay their
money, but they never stay.
Day in and day out going in circles wondering when
it will all stop; they are so weary that they don’t even
try to grab onto that brass ring anymore.
No one really cares that they have suffered. No one
cares that they have had a hard cold life of neglect
no one sees the vacant and sad look in their eyes, or
their weathered faces
So much in common; the carousel horse and the woman
holding tight to each other, going “round and ‘round
both seeking refuge in each others company

There is some truth in what you say, Marilyn and the way you have compared is beautiful. How ever just remember there are poeple who do know the trials and turbulances women face and want to give them refuge.
Unfortunately many women do not see it.
